What is an alcoholic beverage?

With wine, grapes are fermented and with beer, barley, wheat or other grains are fermented. Fermented drinks are also called undistilled drinks. The process of fermentation of a beverage includes bacteria or yeast chemically converting sugar into ethanol. 

The beverage copacking process of distillation, comes after fermentation. With distillation, the fermented product is converted to an even higher concentration of alcohol. Types of distilled alcoholic products are liquors and spirits and contain more alcohol by volume than undistilled drinks.
